With hundreds of local sites spread throughout the region, Angel Food will respond to the impact of Gustav by resourcing these sites with what they need and connecting them to to first responders. Community Access Sites already located in this region are found in local churches and non-profits and are an ongoing part of the Angel Food relief program. This blog reports the development on the ground as our host sites help the people of the gulf coast affected by Gustav.
Please support the efforts of these community organizations as they reach out to neighbors and those who have been displaced.
We are host site directors in Frankin Tennessee, and in February of this year Angel Food responded to our request to help the victims from the tornados that struck our area and wiped out near 50 homes in our immediate area and many many up to several hours from where we are located. Our experience with Angel Food coming in changed our lives forever and we developed an even greater appreciation for a ministry we already respected from working with them on a monthly basis in our distribution. The caring and concern that came immediatly from the staff to the Pastors helped the response to go even deeper! The wisdom they shared allowed us to be able to reach out into the lives of many in our area and the response from the victims kept this area of our ministry outreach flowing for 6 months following the disaster. Angel food also sent several men that actually went on scene to help with debri removal and showed the residents how much Angel Food cared by this hands on work. It was awesome as this terrible disaster made a way for many other churches and organizations to join us in our effort to bless the neighbors of Fairview/Fernvale Tennessee. I believe that this sort of community involvement in such a time was something that touched God’s heart seeing men and women , teens and children, all denominations, ethnic back grounds that came from all over the community and out of State to help. And we all were able to come together just focusing on God and knowing together we could come together and help each other to reach out, it was like hands and feet serving and loving and no one cared about all the outward stuff…we were all one body, the way we were created to be! So we encourage you to reach out to other host sites during the coming times and be BRAVE to reach out into places that you normally would not go and trust that God will go with you and let us all be HIS hands and HIS feet!
