  1. 50 evacuees will arrive in Brandon, MS today. The Community Access Site, operating out of NewDay Community Church will host these evacuees in their 60,000 ft facilities. Families are arriving with virtually nothing and bedding and supplies needed.

  2. We are less than 50 miles north of New Orleans. The Picayune area is taking in as many evacuees as possible. We also face possible extreme wind damage. The damage in this area after Katrina was wide spread.

After the storm passes this area will be in great need.

  7. Jonesboro, AR has a shelter for the people escaping Gustav. My wife is a Red Cross volunteer and assisted with the Red Cross shelter today, 9-2-08. One of the greatest needs is diapers. Local support is being sought to fulfill this need. Hygiene products and towels are also needed in this shelter.

  8. ANGEL FOOD AMERICA ROCKS!!!!

Yesterday, Sept 4th Mustard Tree Missions (MTM) here in Meridian, MS received a truck load of food from Angel Food Ministies through Angel Food America and the results are overwhelming!!!

Working alongside the American Red Cross, MTM with some of the food provided by Angel Food America was able to…

#1 Feed over 2,000 evacuees a “GOING HOME DINNER” grilled by a local chef of ribeye steak, potatoe salad, pork & beans, bread and coles slaw. All but the bread & cole slaw were provided by Angel Food.

#2 The balance of the food was used for local families that housed hundreds of evacuees, to refill the food pantries of local churches that feed evacuees and to refill Love’s Kitchen pantry that cooked over 500 meals each day for the evacuees.

#3 MTM has now established a long term relationship with the American Red Cross and Love’s Kitchen through the generousity of Angel Food.

#4 Though Gustav was an unwanted storm it did provide the stimulus for over 37 area churches to work together with MTM and the American Red Cross.

#5 Angel Food America and Angel Food MInistries earned the respect and admiration of not just the over 7,000 evacuees here but the local government, local media and the entire community and surrounding area.

#6 Through Angel Food America’s contacts we also received 11 pallets of food from Christian Services of Hattiesburg, MS on September 3rd. This was another blessing for the evacuees.

Use your search engine for the Meridian Star and see the front page of this mornings newspaper for additional coverage.
Also search for WTOK TV and see the videos they broadcast (click on the right hand weather area and go down a bit).

THIS IS A GREAT BEGINNING FOR ANGEL FOOD AMERICA AND I ENCOURAGE ALL THE HOST SITES ACROSS OUR NATION TO PUT “COUNTRY FIRST” AND BECOME PART OF ANGEL FOOD AMERICA. YOUR CHURCH WILL BE BLESSED TO ALSO JOIN ANGEL FOOD MINISTRIES AS WELL.

    BLESSINGS TO ALL!!
